The two shades per sunroof, the plastic clips are broken. Instead of shelling out $300.00 for shades, has anyone mickey moused plastic clips or something along those lines?

I was able to get the replacement part from a salvage company on eBay for $13.50. They come up pretty regularly so it is worth checking.

Good luck.

had the same issue.
I got some shitty 2mm alu I had lying around. The top side of the clip has raised edges on it. Cut the alu just narrower than those. Put it in a vice, bend it, use a tap hammer to get a nice sharp bend, leave 3 or 4mm to actaully grab the corresponding edge on the headlining. Spray it black. Use Silastic to fix it on the shade between the grooves of the remaing piece of clip. Leave it protruding from the shade by the same amount as the other side and give it 24 hours to set.
Hey presto! Unless you look hard, you cant even tell its been changed and the Silastic will never come off and hasnt, despite being roasted in 42C!
Or you could send me US$150 and Ill make another set up for you and post em back.

I also used sheet metal to make new clips. If you don't have any a good source would be roof flashing. Here's what I did: cut strips the width of the factory clip base and the length of the oem clip (broken off part and base.) Using a vice or Vise Grip sheet metal tool put a bend to approximate the oem shape. Use a file to round all sharp edges. Place the new clip in place over the oem clip base and clamp lightly. Using an 1/8" bit drill through the plastic base and new sheetmetal clip. Using an appropriate screw and nut and a dot of loctite fasten the parts together.

I went to the local hardwear store and the picture hangers that they had were almost the same size as the origional clip. i paid about 1.25 for the clip. I bought this clip at LOWES if you have a lowes or home depot I know for sure that they will have them. just used a small sheat metal screw to secure it cant even tell when closed.

Great idea, Jerry! I'll try it for mine when the third one breaks. For fix #1 and #2, I used a bent paper clip, and drilled and tappped an 8-32 hole in the plastic.

I cut aluminium to fit the groove on the top side and then bonded it to the two broken halves of the plastic clip with structural epoxy. 10 minute fix has lasted nearly a year now and is invisible unles you look down from the sunroof.
