I have heard that using the K&N over oiled can ruind the mass air flow sensor. makes sense. what about oiled enough so that its not soggy ? is it worth it. I have one but i am deciding to use again just for freeway driving. What are your thoughts? |

MAF sensors are even pricey used from a salvage yard so does a K&N make sence? not to me |

honu, this has been soooooooooo talked about many people will not respond....do a keyword search over on the left there and you will find just about as much opinion as anyone could need. the problem is with light oil they dont clean well with heavy oil they cause problems paper is cheap and just plane works. you may get 5hp more with a K&N then a paper filter that will not really make a hill of beans difference on a disco so why risk the MAF with the oil or the long range life of the motor with the light oil? good luck either way |

whatever, I have one in my 95 D1, 97 F250, 96 Z3, 87 SJ413 (Samurai), and at least 5 cars that I no longer own. No MAF issues. They pay for themselves at the cost of replacement filters and I think they allow a lil more air in. Not a big difference, but some and it saves $$ in the long run. If you put that much oil in the filter, ya, bad things could happen, but if you do other poorly thought out maintenance things other places, bad things can happen too. |

10,000 miles on K&N on my 1997 Disco with regular cleaning and light oiling with no problems. I keep a spare LR paper element in my kit for off road. Just my $0.02 worth Ron Ward |
