Anyone ever mounted lights on the factory (not the adventure rack or other rack) removable crossbar? Thinkin about it unless you all think otherwise...

I have seen it on a DII here in Denver. I don't know who drives it or if he is on DiscoWeb but he has done it. Maybe I will try to get a picture of it next time I am down there. I always see it parked off of Brodway while I am taking the bus to school.

think it can be done with the Yakima adapter to fit on (square) Thule bars. i have a set in the garage, so i might take a look.

Shane over at Rovers North used his crossbars as a light bar. It works for him.

First he popped out those plastic springs that hold the bar in place, then using L-brackets secured the bar to the rails with screws.

Well, I did it,

I mounted 4 hella 500's straight to the factory cross rail. Easy to remove them now too, just disconnect the lights and pop off the rail. If anyone wants a picture email me and i'll get you one. Looks very nice.

Not yet, but you can run the wires through the bar itself if you wanted to--

these lights are mounted onto the cross bar and not attached to the rack that's directly behind it.
