I have a 2000 Disco II with about 30K miles on it...twice in the last couple weeks the red transmission oil temperature light came on...once for about 2 seconds...the second time for about 5 minutes... I live in the NorthEast and there has been alot of snow up this way...both times the light went on was after I went thru a huge puddle and the car got soaked......also both times I was only about 5 minutes into the ride where I'd question the transmission oil being too hot... I read in the manual that the light is an overheating warning....is it possible that the water is shorting out the sensor? Does the warning light only go by the temperature? Also, anyone know where the sensor is located (I'm assuming its underneath the car somewhere) I just want to make sure I'm not totally screwing up the transmission if it happens again and I keep driving!!! THanks in advance, Will |

I experienced the same thing. Light came on for about 2 seconds while driving in wet slushy roads durring snowfall. It's never come on while driving in water though. |
