I am in the process of buying new tires for my RRC and have had good luck in the past with Cooper Discoverer STT's. I'm going to larger (for me) size 265/75/16's (about $120/ea) and dealer tried to steer me towards a new brand he is carrying called "Maxis" (sp?) MT's in same size. Anybody heard of these? I think they may be chicom...

I just put the new Bridgestone Dueler Revo AT's on mine. Best tire I've ever owned.

Are you talking about the Maxxis Buckshots? They have like 3/4" tread depth and are made in India?

If so, I'd stay away. They kick ass offroad, but they blow onroad. I ran some and all 4 deformed from heat buildup within 2k miles on a light Toyota.

Thanks Joe M- Yep,I bet that's what he was referring to... They were pretty cheap so my "crap detector" meter swung full right!

Thanks-

I see them on the bubbas' pick-ups all the time and everytime they are bald which leads me to belive that tread life must suck.

I paid $134 for GY MTR 265/75 tires. I regret nothing.

The Maxxis Buckshot radials are a "new" Buckshot Mudder - the original USA-made Buckshots are some badass tires, sidewalls are almost 3/4" thick and they just tear it up offroad. They were bias then went radial. Maxxis is supposed to be a more street-friendly Buckshot version, same tread pattern, holes for studs, radial, etc but they are not made as well. They are as loud as Swamper TSL's onroad, wear fast, and I personally know others who've had problems similar to mine. Finding round ones, even new, is a challenge.
