I've been wanting to get a lift for my 99 D2 and I was wondering if OME long travel shocks and OME HD coil springs would be a good choice for 31's. It would give me a 1.5 in. lift.

Any suggestions...it'd be great for some input from u guys because I'm a new Rover owner.

The 779's will give you about that much. If you're running a bumper and winch you'll get closer to 1" after the springs have settled. But that will work fine if all you want is to fit the new tires. If you want a little more of a lift go with the 751's or Rovertym springs.

Davis,

The OME lift kit is a good choice. I don't think you have to run the LTR shocks with the HD springs. You can get by with the HD shocks (this is what I run) -- but if money is not an object by all means go for them. ($200 vs $70 per shock) The external reservior is a sexy looking thing and the chicks dig it... You should have no problems running up to 32" with that setup, albeit with a bit of trimming in the rear fenders. Check out the tech section for more info and good luck with your upgrade project!

Acutually no trimming is needed on the rear of the D2 with 32" if you're running stock wheels. The LTR shocks aren't long travel in the viagra sense but long travel in the stamina sense. If you run long distances on washboard roads the LTR's might be a good idea but as Glenn said most people do fine with the standard shocks.

Hey guys thanks,
Just to give u more info I have an ARB bull bar and Warn's XD9000 winch on my Disco and the front is saging alittle under the weight. I've got the 255/55R18 on there now(stock) and I'd like to know the best combination. So the 751's and the HD would give me about 2 inches of lift.
I wanna have enough because the front is saging and I wanna fit a little larger tires(31's), but do you think I can fit any larger tires or will it constrict my articulation.

you can go up to 265/75's with no problems. The 779's will work. giving you a minimal lift and fit the tires. This is the setup I have now with an ARB, X9 winch and 265/75x16's. I have about 1" over stock. The ride will be MUCH better than the stock spring setup and shock with the weight of the bumper and winch. However I'm changing to either the 751's or the Rovertym 2" springs to get a real 2" since the ARB cuts into the aproach angle so much.

It all depends on what you're doing with your vehicle but if you take it offroad much I would say avoid the 779's as they won't help you much in the aproach area. However, the ride will improve with the 779's and tires will fit fine.

Thanks Al,
So with the 256/75 and the 751's I will have about a 2" lift and 31's.

The 751's will give you a true 2" (maybe a little more) lift from stock height with the ARB and winch. I suspect you're lower than stock now. The 31" tires will give you another 1" from total stock height. Stock tires are about 29". For the spring height measure from wheel hub center to the inside, bottom lip of the wheel well. Stock I think is about 18 1/2 - 19". My guess is you're just under 18" now.
