Okay, lets all weigh in on whether or not to replace the head bolts when changing the head gasket? |

Why not? Try http://www.aluminumv8.com They've got a head-stud kit with some pretty strong hardware. |

The new head bolts are designed to be single use. They deform (stretch) when torqued, and re-use runs the risk of improper torquing (best case) or a snapped head bolt (worst case). After all the work you do to change a head gasket (including machining the heads), to me it just makes sense to use new bolts. atlantic british sells the headbolt kit for 69.95. |

Thanks for the beat about atlantic british kits. I did see them for a bit cheaper at motorcars ltd. but they didn't have the short ones in stock. They did have a good price on a head gasket kit, rotors, brakes, and the best price I've seen on a workshop maanual- although they didn't give me a binder and I can't believe how hard it is to find a binder that fits! |
