There appear to be lamps which back light the radio LED display in my 1995 Disco. The center of the display has become dim and I assume one of the lamps has burned out. Are there lamps and how do I replace one of them?

Not all of the buttons on a stock D1 radio will light up all the time. It depends what mode your radio is in. I think the Prog button lights up when it is 'active' (like when a cassette tape is in).

Thanks,
Mike B.

Join the club, almost all of my lights will randomly decide when they will and won't work (and it isn't because of what Mike eplained either)

Mike:
This is not the buttons I'm having trouble with, but the display itself (where the frequency appears). Right and left sides are lit up, center is not. Any ideas?
Thanks, John

Can anyone tell me if the main frequency display illumination is provided by bulbs that can be replaced or by some sort of led panel light source which has to be soldered in. I have heard both from 2 diffent repair shops?

Mine just did that, too, but on the passenger side. Must be 3 lights in there.

The radio in my 94 went dark and I found out it was a radio made by Pioneer. There are three bulbs behind the display that are incandesent. I don't know the voltage or wattage. Pioneer did not have the bulbs in stock at that time but were on back order. These are soldered in units. I ended up buying a complete radio on ebay.

Hope that helps,
neil
