Hi all,

I have a contact in Malaysia that I met on a 4x4 newsgroup. He has agreed to purchase a set of Simex Extreem Trekkers for me. The only hang up is my ignorance of international shipping. Do tires bought by someone overseas and then shipped say UPS or FedEx be DOT approved? Or would we have to smuggle them into the country in boxes? I don't know if customs would sieze a set of tires that are not DOT approved. Does anyone have any experince or advice to pass on. Thanks much.

Chris, no problem with Customs, since they don't know what vehicle these will go on they can't seize any tire. For all they know they could be going on your farm tractor, or a racing application. so no problem there. Are they at a good price?

Well, depending on shipping costs, a set of five in 32x10.5-16 would be in the $1100-1300range. So they are not going to be cheap but cheaper that most places that I have seen them for sale.
