Where is the best spot to take off power for the CB? Mine is mounted against the centre console, about knee height in the drivers leg well, but not yet wired up Also should the CB be hot wired? Roly |

Directly to the battery is best. |

I direct wired in one of those 3-gang cigar-lighter thingies, and mounted it to the center console. I just plug all the accessories in that I want to keep on all the time to that. Not quite a slick as direct wiring but provides greater flexibility, allowing me to swap around devices easily (and also positively disconnent devices from vehicle power so that they don't present a hidden current drain while the vehicle is parked for longer periods) |

If you are interested in getting a clean power source, you need to go directly to the battery. Even then you may need to use some filters to keep vehicle related electrical noise from getting out on your signal. |

I ended up having to go right to the battery and then use a filter to keep the winch motor noise of of the CB Bill |

Bill - you must use your winch one heck of a lot for that to have become a distraction! |

Dependant on your vehicles equipment you may be able to access unused fuses in the fusebox eg rear a/c, sunroof etc |

Puglsy, Winch feedback through CB power circuit would fry the receive circuitry = no more CB Bill |
