Marathon!

Man Dave, I ran three miles at lunch and almost died. The wind chill here in Jville, NC was 27F.

HA!

Mile 20 I would have been ordering a pizza from the back of the Ambulance!

I just started running last week. Ran 3 miles on Mon, Wed, and Fri; then road my mountain bike 12 miles on Saturday. The goal is to do a race called "mud sweat and gears" where you run 3, mountain bike 18, and run 3.

Paul,

Good luck with the training..... maybe I can fix up the old mt bike and give it a try.....

P.S. nothing takes the pain at the end away quite like a pitcher of beer....

What are all you guys running from? I never understood the allure of running...

Let's say hypothetically your Rover gets stuck while off-roading in the woods. You decide to hike out and a grizzly bear starts chasing you. There...a perfect reason to run. ;-)

Of course, I won't get into the debate of whether you should run or stay put when dealing with cases of bear attack.

David, I'm running the Vermont City Marathon in May. Ran Boston in '00 and '01.

Anyone recommend any western European runs?

Running helps you get home and back faster from the dealership when your taking your rover in for its visit.

David-
My wife did the VCM (the full marathon) the last two years. She tried to get in this year on the relay only but registration closed on the second day! It's almost getting too popular.

Disney was 22,000. 16 Full and 6 half. Orig wanted to do the half but was full, so bucked up and ran the full. It filled two months after my wife and I got in.

S, that's what I hear. The marathon still has a few spots left. I went to college in Burlington, so I'm looking forward to the run and having some local support.

It does sound popular now. I think it's because a lot of Newenglanders are attempting to use it to qualify for more popular runs like Boston. But, I was surprised as well.

On a more serious not, running is to high impact for me, swimming is where its at when it comes to aerobic exercise.

Well Phil,

I am now questioning my sanity. Here in Jville, the wind is 18mph gusting to 24 with a windchill of 26 F and I just ran three miles. At least on the MTB, the trees will block the wind.

HOCKEY! Did you watch the "B's" game last night? They just can't get it together. I am really more of a Devils fan but NESN has all the Bruins games on so I am forced to watch them fall apart lately.

no no no. not a devils fan!! haha. my old roommates sister was married to the goalie many years ago. we got to sit with all the wives and just were the biggest assholes in front of them. getting drunk and hoping to see one of their hubbies getting injured. i know.....we were juvenile at the time.
but i am a BLUES fan. grew up in st. louis and have them in my blood. that is where it all started for me at the age of 5.
and of course living in PA now most of us have a strong distaste for NJ and its teams. :)

I get that alot....My son thinks Martin Broduer is a deity. He's a goalie also but lives to play for the Bruins or Canadiens (to be near me). We went to the Rangers training camp this year and met Bobbby Holik, he was a very nice guy. My son had him sign a Devils card, it made his week for sure.

Unfortunately, I live on the coast and all we get is rain. If the rain is not to bad out tomorrow, I'll probably go. This weekend I have to work all three days, so mountain biking is not happening.
