Posted a message earlier today about my 1999 disco I that sometimes is sluggish from 50-70mph. Felt like it would start missing sometimes when accellerating at those speeds. Yesterday the check engine light confirmed Got two errors 0300 Misfire on Multiple Cylinder 1316 Misfire Excessive Emissions Fault I am planning on giving it a general tune up, wires, plugs, filters since I bought the car a few months ago and dont know how old any of that stuff is. Anything else I should look to replace with these faults? I am going to mail order the parts from Nathan so I would rather errors on the side of caution and replace something that may or may not need replacing if the price is not too crazy rather then replacing one part a week till I fix it. The 0300 code could point to multiple plugs needing replaced, but it could also point to a broader ignition problem that might be solved by a new cap and rotor. The 1316 code probably results from the 0300 code condition, so I'd try and get the 0300 code cleared up first and see if the 1316 goes away as a result. |

Normally the p0300 and p1316 by themselves indicate a valve stick issue. This may be the reason that the original owners sold the truck. A test that sometimes works is to let the vehicle warm up, run it up to the rev limiter in 1st gear, shift to second and run it up to about 4-4500 then shift to overdrive real quick and apply between 1/4 to 1/2 throttle. While some people out there may think this is nuts it will find valve stick issues many times. If the vehicle starts to miss pretty bad and then eventually goes away you will get to perform the exciting task of removing cylinder heads. |
