Any weekend skiers or snowboarders in the seattle tacoma area on DWEB. I'm the type of snowboarder that is balls to the wall all day long. Anybody intrested in going I'll be up here for a month or so. I have 5 extra tickets to Crystal Mountain if anyone is intrested that I would be willing to give up for 22 dollars a piece which is half off the regular price. Anyway I was thinking of going this weekend if anyone wants to come.

Yeah Sean, we are here all right. You'll find us in the right-hand lane since our Rovers can't pass a '77 Subaru over Berthoud Pass.

Prescottj, since you're in Seattle, you should head a little further north and go to Whistler/Blackcomb in Vancouver. And with American money, you'll get a good deal.

Jack,
You got three choices. One buy that Subi, two leave earlier or three just move to the ski town and always make first chair on pow days:)

How's the snow in CO? I moved to Utah a few years ago to get into back country skiing. But this year our snow sucks! By the way I live about 30mins from Alta. "greatest snow on earth", my ass.

Andy,
We are doing OK. Vail has had about 190 inches so far. The snowpack in the back country has been fairly unstable the last few weeks. We seem to be getting passed up each storm. That F'n High pressure system just camps out over the four corners. It may suck but it's better than Florida:)

Andy,

We do have the greatest snow on earth...its just that we aint getting it right now. I actually did the 'bird last week, and busted open my eyebrow on a snowboarders head at Brighton today. Nothing that a plastics guy couldn't fix with 14 stitches. In both cases the snow was much better than I expected. Not deep powder like we should have, but not noo bad either. I will be at Alta Saturday and back to Snowbird sometime next week.

Andy,
You doing the Alpine thing or are you AT, tele or split board?

I do the tele thing, this my first year on tele coming from alpine. Curtis is right, the resorts are okay, but I'm not happy with the back country. Other than its been real unstable, there isn't enough snow in the bowls to cover all the rocks. I am not really that good at turning quick tele turns right now. So I need large run outs. Here in the wasatch those open areas are up high. Those areas are crusty, unsafe, and not to covered enough for a wuss like me. lol Coming from PA, I should be less picky about snow quality, I guess I'm turning into one of those rocky mountain ski snobs! But true, at least it isn't Florda and it does have mountains unlike PA. 190" is about online with what we have, where is are 500"? I think I'm missing winter, that makes me grumpy.

Sean,
I'm never in a hurry anywhere I go - unless I'm on my G4's. I do live in a ski town, own a ski shop, have a locker 60 steps from the Zephyer lift. Had first tracks on Outhouse Thursday, skied around 30+ days this year.
Cheers,
Jack

Jack,
I tried to pull off the pow day yesterday but I was shut down! As they say work before play:)~ I'm trailing far behind with only 14 day thus far.

Andy,
Truckee(sp) California! I read they get 650" a year. I also hear Teton pass, Badger Basin, and Wolf Creek are fat with snow. I came from Maryland and grew up on the old Liberty, Roudtop, Jack Frost, Camelback connection. It is hard to complain after that. "We don't need no stinki'n training heels" Cheers,

Sean,
Where is the closest ski area to you?
This week, another ridge of high pressure set up -@#@#$^%! But this time we got lucky and the high move up just enough to let us get around 12" over two days. So, while it wasn't epic powder, it was better than the last two weeks!

Jack,
I'm 45 min from Breck. We just cruise over Hoosier pass and Viola! Not as nice as 60 feet but what can you do? Breck and Vail got about 7" but not all that exciting.

Sean,
45 minutes is not bad. It takes me 45 minutes get dressed, drive, park, catch the shuttle (hope it doesn't break down) to ski area, put on boots, grab skis and poles, forget something in locker, so I walk back, and then finally get back in the lift line. Breck is a great ski area and town. The crowds at WP have been huge this year, weekends are insane, and the new terrain park keeps Flight for Life busy!

AH the trauma park rules! Best thing to happen to EMS since the three wheeled ATV's of the 80's. We were at A Basin today and all was well. They don't have a T-park. For you crowds=$$$$$ so can't be all that bad. Soon it will be mountain bike season:) Cheers,

Trauma park...I like that. I got hit by a boarder at Brighton on Thursday. Unlike a lot of skiers, I have never held too many grudges against boarders. I figured we are all out for fun. But after the plastic surgeon put my face back together I am giving them some second thoughts. It is not that riding is a bad sport. It is just that it is just easy enough to allow some people out on the hill who do not know how to navigate a fall line.

He was a really nice guy though. I don;t hold it against him. I think I will start sticking to Alta and Deer Valley where they are not allowed. Either that or Snowbird where it is too hard for the rookie riders.

RoundTop, I grew up about 15mins from there, I used to ride my mt bike all summer there as I could ride right from my house. I learned to alpine there. As for training hills, tele has proven to be a larger learning curve than I expected. To make matters worse, ever time I go skiing with friends I end up going fixed heel, I need to do one or the other, not both.
Curtis,
You rich d2 drivers going to deer valley ... lol

Andy,
I do know what you mean. This year was the first real tele year and it's been humbling. I was able to ski anywhere on my alpine stuff. Tele stuff is a different story. Steep is fine but anything with bumps is out. Since weve had no real good snow all the off piste stuff is chopped. I have not locked down the heels in the last two months. I wen't to Arapahoe Basin with two friends yesterday and for the first time ever they were just kick'n my ass. I refuse to give up and soon I will be kick'n their ass again. If you feel like kicking up your heels in Colorado let me know.

Sean,
More people = more $$$, but no one's getting rich here, just getting by. Week days are nice, usually not too many folks around, but my kids are in an alpine program on Saturday, so I usually stay and make a few turns. If you're ever headed this way, let me know and I'll see if I can get a deal for you if you want to stay the night. It's no Marriott, but the price is right.

Jack,
I'd love a change of scenery. A good friend of mine grew up in WP and keeps bugg'n us to head up there this winter. I'll let you know if it happens. It looks like we may be moving down the hill to south Denver. Is the Copper/WP deal still in full effect? Last I heard it was CHEAP,$300 or so.

Sean,
The pre-season price was $225, for WP only. Now, a WP season pass is $825. With the Intrawest deal, WP and Copper passes are good at either resort. Since both are Intrawest properties, they decided to honor each others passes rather than create a new combined pass this year. Next year, I'm sure they will have some kind of deal, but at $825 now, it's no deal.
Who do you know from Winter Park? This is a pretty small place.
-Jack
ps - snow forecast looks good for us this week
