Hmmmmm.... plastic Looks like the guy who made the avalanche designed this thing. But if its built like the the older FJ40's and not some POS IFS clone then I really don't care what it looks like as long as I don't have to get a baby blue one. |

i've gotta agree with Peter on this one, that is an abomination. it's based on the Taco platform, so you know it's IFS. way too plastic. i want them to just start producing the old 40's as is with a little more attention to protecting the body from rot. i've considered selling my YJ to get an FJ-40, but the parts are too expensive. |

Al, Baby blue matches my eyes
Well, its not as ugly as the Avalanche or the other new high water mark for refugees of the AMC design team...the Aztek. I think it could be smoothed out to be decent. IFS would be a sad thing...however I'd give my first born to have some high end carbon fiber reinforced glass skin. IH8 rust. |

"The FJ Cruiser takes on an authentic functional form, yet adopts several styling cues from the original FJ," said Jin Kim, the FJ Cruisers 25-year-old exterior designer. Can someone point me to these authentic forms? Sorry, I can't find them. One word, UGLY. That thing is an insult to it's heritage. I just don't understand why carmakers keep designing trucks with all the plastic trim crap. I want to go at them with a screwdriver and chisel and remove that garbage to see the metal panels! |

Looks to me like they took alot of their design cues from the J**P Willys concept from last year. Wide roof with low windows. Kinda looks like it's been chopped. If they would have kept the narrow body and seperate fenders it would have looked a lot truer to the original. |

I like the intergrated/removable GPS unit concept. Color matched to the dashboard, but removable when you need to use it and for security. I have to admit that it isn't exactly causing me to harken back to the original FJ-40, but it does have a lot of innovative ideas and concepts. Mike |

Oliver, The old FJ40s were only 3 speed. Never stopped me from doing 90 in it. Less gears to break that way. pwc |

I've got better things to do than wait around. Although, I have grown slower in my old age. Obvisouly a lot slower since I bought a Rover. Granted, the time I hit 90 was with the top off and because it was over 100 degrees zipping through Idaho on the way to Utah. But I'd regularly take to to 80 with the top and rack on. I'll stop talking now lest I sell the disco and go buy one.... pwc |

And, finally, the interior. Paint powder-puff blue and looks similar to the concept FJ interior. Note the placement of the gear shift ... sort of brings a new meaning to the "on-the-tree" shifter.
