While getting the basic parts over at Pep Boys today, I came across a set of el-cheapo fog lights for rice burners. It seems like everytime I go to the mountains, there is a lot of fog and a set of fog lights would be nice. The only problem is that my Landy is lifted w/tires, etc. so there isn't any place to put a set of fog lights that are down low where I would need them. Also, my bumper doesn't have anymore tabs for lights.

But, I thought I could take this cheap set and mount them to my axle (!) and have some fog lights that would be REAL low to the ground. And since they are cheap, I wouldn't worry too much if I destroyed one.

So, what do y'all think?

Those are kinda like rock lights. I put some on this past weekend and love them!

Greg,

I figured I could double them up as rock lights, but I have decided to NEVER wheel' after dark (long stories). I was thinking of more on road MOD than an off road MOD.

Well, (here we go :))

At the BRLRC Uhwarrie event, I got the great idea to follow some "advanced" four wheelers onto one of the more harder trails. To say the least, my 109 didn't have the flex to cope with the trail and what was a nice little trail turned into a three hour tour with a busted alternator, a dead battery and a 30 min. drive back to camp with no headlights. After that, I had to get the thing running and went into town to get the battery charged.

The next time I had a run in with the darkness was at MAR 2002. I went into that river....and never came out . I stalled her out and spent about 45 minutes in that water trying to get out. When I got out, I put the truck in first gear....and the gear lever broke off in my hand . Fortunately, there was a gentleman there with a welder and I got her put back together.

So, I try not to venture off road in the dark any.

So, what do y'all think about those fog lights???

I think that by the time they are tucked that far back from the front of the truck they aren't going to be putting out much light that is visible to you from the drivers seat.

IMHO, FWIW

Prescott,

No foreign substances were used in my effort to not destroy my truck.

Carter has a good point. Maybe if I mount them low on my ARB (around the front license plate) then they could be good.
