I'm an avid reader but not much on posting on D-web b/c I have only had my 94 DI for about 6 months now and I feel like I am still learning the ropes, but I had to post this one b/c I am tired of reading about everyone who is looking at Discos and wondering about reliability. I purchased mine with 139K on the clock, and it has OME HD suspension, 265/70 tires, ARB Bull w/Warn 9000 up front, Brownchurch roofrack, 2xHella 4000s on the bumper and soon to be 4x 500s on the front, 2x550 on the back of the rack. All of that is well and good, it also took me about three weeks of learning, cursing and searching this website to get her past Va inspection. Today I try to turn the key and it will not budge. I wiggle the steering wheel, bang on it, curse, you name it, and it won't move at all to even try to turn over. So I come home, call Rover's North, talk to a couple of people and our general consensus is its the ignition switch/power steering lock... one is on the way and here is the point of all of this: I knew what I was getting into when I did this, I might curse the truck at times but its still a lot better than any other SUV out there (except maybe the Defender 110 that I want, but that's a different post) and I am not scared to work on it in the least. I will say that reading the posts of late about Disco reliability, or my personal favorite-how to wax the Disco with a roof rack, make my day at work go quickly. If anyone has any input/tricks to making this go easier please add comments, but it seems to be a straightforward replacement. Now I have to carry two sets of keys! One to open the door and one to start her... |

les... get a remote from ebay for cheap and you'll only need the key to start the car. also you can change the locks in the door, this is only takes about a 30 minutes per door to swap. rd |
