Thought I would post here as it seems to get read more then the for sale section. Anyway my 99' DII was on lease and my tires were bald. I wasn't sure if I was going to keep the car or not so I was waiting on tires. I decided to keep it and get tires. So I get called out of town for buisness and the car sits here at home. I'm having dreams of coming home and putting a 2-3" lift and new 32's on. I get home and my wife surprises me!!!! she already took care of the lease gets the car certified and detailed, a free 100k warrenty and new TIRES (stock mich.) Now I need to get rid of these tires ASAP. She won't let me spend money on tires when I have a brand new set on the car already. SO if anbody is interested I have (4) brand new Mich. tires with no miles on them (OK mabey 13miles form the DS to home). Please I need a lift and I can't wait another 40k miles for these tires to wear out.

Just curious, how did you get a "free" 100K warranty? What size are the tires and where are you located?

see if any tire shops in the area will take them as a partial trade or something

My wife had a list of "deal breakers" that she wanted: new tires, a warrenty, new rocker panels, chips in the windshield, certified rover, new sterring wheel and a complete detail. The tires are Mich. 255/65/16 and I am in Laguna Niguel CA. (Orange County) And if you are curious we had 3 moths to go on the lease. At the end the buy out was 24,900 we got the car for 24,000 didn't have to pay for those 3 months ($1900) plus got all of the above stuff. I think it was a satifactory deal since when I traded my previous car in we compounded 5000 of it into the price of the rover. My rover is a 99 DII with everything but ace so not a bad deal.

Your wife did good! Becareful about modifing your rig with a lift, et al, you may void your new warranty.

Well got my new tires. found a place that would give me a good amout of credit for my tires. They gave me $400 for mine and I got BFG A/T 265/75/16 for a total of $300 out the door. And they even gave me a free spare (used but who cares). Next week is the lift then I will post pics. Also the rear spare rubs a little on the bumper I saw on here somewhere but can't find it now.... That you can invert the tire carrier so it won't rub, can someone direct me to that link. Or is it simply just taking it off and inverting it.

I think you have to drill some new holes in the tire carrier as well

Hey Ken,

I am in a similar situation... Just bought out my 99DII last May and this past December I put an OME HD shocks and springs on it. It gave me about an inch or so, now I am looking at the BFG's. Where did you get your tires? I am not happy with my GoodYears and I am waiting a few weeks to get a bit more life out of them.

I am in Los Angeles too...

I am actually in Orange county so it might be a drive for you but the tire shop was the most honest and nicest guy I ever dealt with. I vow to send him any buisness I can as I think in this day and age he is a rare breed in the automotive industry. Without the trade the tires would have been $640 out the door for (4). what I really liked about him is when I told him I also needed a spare before we could even talk about prive he said he would just throw in a used spare as there was no need to spend good money on a tire that would hardly be used. Anyway his contact info is:

Do those tire rub at all when you turn?

No they don't rub at all. I put them on knowing I was going to do a lift. I bought the stuff today and am going to do the lift tomarrow. If you are not going to do the lift, the tires don't "look quite right" they look a little big for the truck and I'm sure they would rub if you took them off-road.

Ken,

I am thinking about replacing my stock tires for the 265/75/16, but I am not sure about the lift. you mentioned that they do not rub at all, but what about the turning radius? does need to be adjusted? I personally think that the stock tires look to small for a Disco body. I wonder how much it cost to do the 1"lift. do you have pictures of your rig without the lift?

Jorge

Joey, where did you buy the OME HD shocks and springs?

every thing was fine but for me it just didn't look right. The tire will fill all the gaps in your wheel well. They won't rub even when turning. But you definaly won't be able to go off road with them. I put a 3" lift on over the weekend and it made a hugh difference. I have never done it before but the whole process took about 5 hrs. so not bad. If you don't have SLS it will take longer. I got all the stuff from EE (John Lee) great guy he was on his way out the door but still took time to answer all my question and make sure I had all the right stuff to do the job right. And told me to even call him on the trail if I had problems! real top notch. Anyway the entire lift was only $500. best money I ever spent.
