I have a 98 Disco LSE. Did this car come with a keyless entry alarm? I bought the car used and it came with one Clifford key fob remote. The problem is the remote is shot and I don't want to put a whole new alarm in. Could the old owner have lost the factory key fob and just used this one instead? My real question is how do I identify a factory alarm from and aftermarket?

By "Clifford" do you mean huge? The LR factory keyring/remote is indeed a huge one-button unit with a single blinky red light and reads "FCC ID ####, Lucas, Made in UK on the back. It's a dealer-only item, will run you about $120.
Replace the batteries in your old one before buying a new one, maybe that's all that's wrong.

Sorry, no the key fob is definatly after market, but I am trying to find out if the last owner only changed the key fob or the whole system.
