Over the past 2 weeks my truck has stalled about 5 times while backing out of parking spaces, it always happens just as I have moved about 4-5 feet backwards, any ideas?

98 DI, 61K on the clock, brand new stepper motor.

Carter,
Where does it idle with the new stepper? You might want to check the base idle setting. You can do this by clamping off the hose that leads to the plenum. With the hose clamped I believe it should idle at about 600.

Good idea Sean, it SEEMS to idle fine but I will go check it.

last time fuel filter was changed? does it happen just at start up, or anytime when backing up?

Fuel filter should be good, no water or mud period since the last time it was changed. Just when backing up, never at idle (yet).

mine (sort of) does the same thing on a cold day start. when I start up, and don't let it warm up for a few minutes, as soon as I put a load on it, rpms drop and it gets close to stalling. after a few min, just fine. does it happen if you let the truck warm up for a couple of minutes? I am completely just fishing here, so excuse the lack of knowledge.

Hmmm you know that brings up another weird thing, it hasn't done it when the engine is cold yet, every time the thing had just been running about 10 min. ago.

Carter:

I have the same stalling problem with my Disco. Somebody on this board recommended to clean a valve (PCV?) located on the valve cover. I have yet to figure out what valve he is talking about. Every time I take my Disco to my Land Rover mechanic, the stalling problem does not occur. I was told the problem can't be fixed until the stalling is always occurring or an engine code gets registered.

I hope somebody can tells us what the problem is :( :( :(

Spark plugs/wires?
Vacuum leak?

I've had stalling problems on various vehicles due to those issues.
