I Just arrived in the Northwest for a month an a half and I get here drive the disco like 5 miles after letting it sit for about 4 months and check engine light comes on. i'm getting ready to change my 02 sensors. and the research I have done is looked in my shop manual and it wants me to use tool LRT-12-047. What tool have You guys used in place of it? Hints or tricks to changing them I am trying to make this a quick easy job because it will be outside possibly in the rain. If I had ever been here before I would probably know just what to do
Don't you?

If I had ever been here before on another time around the wheel I would probably know just how to deal with all of you.

And I feel Like I've been here before
Feel Like I've been here before

And you know It makes me wonder
What's going on under the ground

Do you know?
Don't you wonder?
What's going on down under you.

We have all been here before

where in the NW are you? If you are in PDX you might call Doug Shipman at Shipman Mechanical. He does alot of rovers. He might have some good advice for you.

A ton of us, myself included, have changed the O2 sensors before. If I recall, the special tool is just a wrench that can reach up into position for you -- the sensors are a bit tough to reach. Just do a search through the archives for a listing of the wrench size and you'll be all set. Warning -- it can take a while to get this job done, though. There is some mighty awkward bending to be done -- especially in disconnecting / reconnecting the front sensor harnesses.

matt, life occurs to me in the form of song and lyric. i tend to filter everything through this process... i hope i'm not an idiot.

Now everything's a little upside down, as a matter
of fact the wheels have stopped,
What's good is bad, what's bad is good, you'll find
out when you reach the top
You're on the bottom.
