It looks like I've been leaking transmission fluid in my 2000 SII. I know the box is sealed, but there must be some way that I can top it off. I've looked through the archives for about 2 hours and couldn't find a solution. Someone please help. |

You can, I made the dealership set my level properly (it was overfilled) they just didn't like to do it, since the SEALED concept was involved. Here's what my "Discovery Series II" workshop manual says to do: 1. Ensure gearbox is cool, apply handbrake and chock front and rear wheels. 2. Place a suitable container beneath gearbox 3. Clean area around oil filler/level and drain plugs 4. Remove oil drain plug, remove and discard sealing washer 5. Allow oil to drain 6. Fit new sealing washer to oil drain plug. 7. Fit automatic gearbox drain plug and tighten to 11 lb/ft. 8. Remove oil filler/level plug remove and discard sealing washer 9. Fill gearbox with recommended oil to botom of level/filler plug hole 10. Select 'P' (Park) 11. Ensure handbrake is applied 12. Start engine and allow it to idle 13. Apply footbrake 14. Move selector level through all gear positions while continuing to full the gearbox. Select 'P' (Park) 15. With engine idling, continue filling gearbox until a small thread of oil runs from oil filler/level plug hole. 16. Fit new sealing washer to automatic grearbox filler/level plug, fit plug and tighten to 22 lb/ft. 17. Stop engine 18. Remove all traces of oil from gearbox housing. |

Eric, I cant find the oil filler/level plug hole. Does it give a description or location? Drivers side/Pass side, toward the front/rear? Is it an allen type plug or bolt head type plug? Many thanks for the info you've given. |

Here's the image from the manual. #4 is the drain plug/hole, #8 is the filler/level plug/hole.
