Trying to figure out if I can afford a new (used) disco and the one i am thinking about still has remainder of factory warranty. Do you have to take the truck into the landrover dealer for the check up services to keep the warranty valid or can you do the service on your own. I bought my disco 1 with no warranty and have done all the service and repairs myself. If I have to pay the dealer the high fees i've read about on here to keep the warranty valid, i definitely can't afford a newer one. Also, are the D2's much harder to troubleshoot and fix. Thanks in advance. John |

Going on memory here, but I recall a federal lawsuit/statute that prevented only dealer repairs/servicing for warrranties to be valid. Anyone/place can do required servicing as long as they follow required (by LRNA) steps and service all required items. |

Thanks. Just confused because I bought my wife a BMW and they said that it had to be serviced by BMW to maintain warranty...no problem since all service is included for four years anyway but my parents just bought a Volvo and the dealer said it could be serviced / repaired anywhere just so we had the records even to the point that you could do it yourself provided you kept reciepts to prove oil changes, sercive, etc. I just think it's ridiculous to pay a dealer to do service checks for big money when they are so easy. |
