What options are there for recovery points on the front of a Disco2. I'd prefer not to have to replace the front bumber just to attach the occasional snatch strap.

Does anyone know how I can add a tow hook/recovery point to the front of my Disco2 w/ the stock bumper? Anyone???

Well, likely you do not wish to connect to the bumper itself. I used the loops attached to the frame on the Disco (think that they are there on the D2), but they will break under extreme forces. Mine bent, but worked until I got a real bumper.

I believe you want something attached to the frame. There should already be mounting holes. Something like the following might work, you could always as the vendor, they should know.

Chris,

Brian's right, if you don't want to swap bumpers, you should look into a pair of jate rings for your Disco.

Those were the pictures that I have seen of the jaterings mounted. I wanted to point Chris to those, but could not find them quickly.

One thing about those jate rings....if you notice the photo in thelink from Rob....the air dam on that Disco has been cut off from the bumper. Without doing that, I'm not sure youcould get to the fings with a recovery strap unless you cut holes in the airdam.

I got pulled for a couple miles over the weekend using a jate ring under my Disco 1. I still have the air dam on and it worked no problem. I also have an OME HD lift and 235/85 tires which raised the whole thing up some though.

Hi all,

I am too looking to put JATE rings on my disco. Should I rig up some sort of bridal with a tree strap to tow off of or is it ok to pull off of one ring?

Thanks

Max T.

LR dont fit big recovery points - their theory is that LR's dont get stuck!

I have just come back from the beach on an Island in OZ. The beach was badly chopped up by Christmas traffic and in most parts the soft sand was over a hundred metres wide from the dunes to the hard stuff. I towed a 21 foot, 2000 kilo dual axel caravan through that soft stuff - up hill in the camp area with a manual DII V8 - the thing is unstoppable and the TRC worked beautifully. On the day I went through, you will be pleased to know that Pajeros and Jeeps and a host of other 4wds (SUV's) were getting stuck with and without loads - and none of the loaded ones had trailers of more than 1000kg or so. GO DISCO.
