Having this annoying whistling sound on the passenger side when climate control fan is on, it is uninfluenced by the fan speed. This occurs only when the fan is switched on and getting louder when I stepped on the accelerator. Brought the truck to the dealer and stayed there (Larchmont, NY)for 2 days, upon picking it up this am I was told that there is some dried leaves (I dont know where)and that annoying sound is still there.
Any input.

Thanks

Herman,

This whistling noise from the climate control fan appears to be a "feature". I have a 2000 DII and it does the exact same thing. I had it at the LR dealer once before for this and they could not find the problem. I will be bringing it in for service in a few weeks and I will have them go at it again. Maybe this time they can find the problem.

For reference, there are a few other archive posts on this matter. Maybe someone else found out what it is.

Guys,
I know this sound stupid but are all your vents fully open? A closed or slightly closed vent will do this. We have had several series 2s come in and this was the cause. If this is not your problem, then its a feature of the car. Ha Ha.

Yes, it's fully open. Found a solution, it goes away by playing the radio too loud (he, he).

I have a fan making noise in the same place on my '00 DII. The dealer is replacing the fan.

Eric,
Let me know if that solved the problem. When are you going for the fan replacement?
Hernan.
