Has anyone ever tried Auto Europa in SF at 1st and Harrison St.? They claim to be LR specialist, factory trained and do restorations. I've tried to use the competition in town at Roverland but they never answer their phone and never call me back when I leave a message

I would keep trying Roverland, Philippe is kinda busy as his wife just had triplets recently. He does a really good job and helps out his customers. Why don't you just stop by and see his shop?

I think you should also just drop by the shop. roverland doesn't usually have a receptionist there, so leaving the message is how it works. I've always got a call back within a couple of hours. if you stop by you will see philippe is a very cool guy and takes the time to really talk to you about your truck.

Stay far - very, very far away from BMC. BMC is the Great Satan.

I won't bore you with [all] the details, but suffice it to say that after a two-week sunroof installation with numerous glitches along the way, I wouldn't trust them to check my tire pressure.

Best transaction: I'm standing there on day ten after yet another long day at work (without my truck or loaner) and one of the technicians drives my D1 up from the service area below. Mind you, I'd seen this happen four or five times at this point. So, before I touch the motherf'er, I say to the service manager - "I'd prefer you try it first". So he kinda uses the "I'm really busy" body language and "you're crazy - won't you ever go away?" glance but finally sits in the drivers seat and proceeds to fight the sunroof for fifteen minutes to try to get it open. Not only did he seem completely unfazed by the failure of the mechanism after his techs executed a complete rebuild (with all new parts) - he actually tried to blame me for the problem!? Recall, I had not even touched the car. Two years later, the ***t still doesn't work - rattles and jams nicely. B M C = S A T A N.

Drop by and see Philippe like Derek said, you'll be glad you were persistent in the end. Philippe put down his lunch the first time I went in there to sort out a very difficult intermittent starter problem that the rocket-scientists at Cole European had been unable to fix in three visits. Within a few minutes he had diagnosed the problem, told me how to fix it with a 10mm spanner and a rag and refused to take a dime. Hands down the best shop I've found anywhere for Rovers. R O V E R L A N D - G O O D...

do not go to auto europa, they are blatant theives! the guy tried to rip me off me twice! once he quoted 450 for front brakes and rotors. I got to the shop he jacked up the price to 575.00 we argued and he did not do the work. The guy comes off really nice, but he is a scammer.

He even threatened to sue a friend of mine for warranty work that he did not due correct. Long story short, the owner worked on friends car to do repairs on the exhaust system that the friend had installed at another place. Ron the owner at auto europa tried to swindle the big exhaust co. overcharging them 1500.00 the district manager of htis national chain called him and told him that he was crazy trying to give him that estimate. to top it off auto europa sent them three different estimates in one day! for the same job. all of them overcharging the national co. well the national co was going to sue auto europa for all of this and refused to pay him a dime.

he then called my friend and told him that he would sue him for the full amount of the bogus friend. needless to say my friend had all three different invoices and told him to shove it and that he would see him in court!

My friend winded up not paying a dime for any of the work done! the guy is totally bogus and does not crap about rovers. he knows basics, but anything real nitty gritty he calls out for help. he was asking me for advice on what to do with my truck. that is scary. the mechanic asking you what to do.
ive got plenty more stories about this place, but be forewarned he will not do a good job. He buys used parts and charges you for new ones. He hopes that most rover owners are ignorant w/deep wallets.

If you are out in the East Bay, Mike Green at West Coast British really knows his stuff in addition to being an Enthusiast himself. Shop rate quite a bit lower than the stea1ership.
