I've got a 95 Rangie SWB County classic.....These mud flaps are driving me insane!! They're apparently held in place by rivets?....The head of the rivet or what I thought was a screw has no place for a phillips head or screwdriver. I talked to a mechanic at the local Land Rover dealer and he said I should just use bolt cutters and cut the rivets off and take em out..Well I did, and now they're still stuck in there? Now there's barely any piece of the rivet to work w/ to try to pull out....... Any suggestions? |

I just replaced mine last weekend. Used an angle grinder to cut the nuts off right below the nut. If you don't do that there is a shoulder that will prevent the rivet from being removed. I don't see how you could cut them close enough with bolt cutters. Even with the way I did it (and I did have to grind a few down because I didn't cut them close enough), I still had to use a punch to drive them out thanks to the rust. |

heck, i just yanked off the remaing mud flaps that were about to fall off anyways to make it all look uniform. didn't even notice they were riveted on. couldn't you just drill them out? |

I first tried drilling them out but once the bit catches them, it just spins them about. Thats why I broke out the angle grinder and got ugly with them. |
