Monday I purchased a '97 Discovery (My first Land Rover). After owning a several Jeep I am used to problems. However this one has me confused. About two hours of driving time after I left the lot, it began to act up. ONLY after driving it for about 45mins - 1 hour it will stall (Much like a governor kicking in, not that I would know or anything ). Then about 1-2 seconds later it will continue to accelerate/resume speed again. It will continue this loop until you park the car for at least 20 minuets. I have read other posts about the VSS being bad in cases like this one. My check engine light came on. At one point it flashed. I then took it to a near by shop right away. When they read the codes it indicated that cylinder 7 had a misfire and could have caused possible damage to the catalyst. I then replaced the spark plugs with platinum +4 plugs. I found that in cylinder 7 the gap was set wrong. I also replaced the fuel filter and cleaned my K&N. However despite my attempts this problem still occurs. Tuesday I am having it serviced at the Land Rover dealer. I was already having the valve cover gasket replaced. (Knew when I bought it) If anyone could please help me, so that I am able to walk in the dealer with an idea Tuesday, I would appreciate it. Thanks. Garret Curtis [email protected] |
