Tapping noise

Author Message   Ray Pugh Posted on Monday, January 20, 2003 - 07:06 am:    I have a Discovery Tdi which, when warmed up, makes a tapping noise on acceleration only. It seems to be more when the turbo kicks in on hard acceleration, but is also noticable (quieter) when on slow acceleration. I have an idea that it may be the tappets, or a broken valve cap. How big a job is it to replace these? Ray
