I know - people are always on about it. My DII has 235/75 Michellin - ie 235 mm wide. Factory standard in Australia is quite narrow. I want to know if I could get away with 255/70 without effecting my gearing and clearance in the guards too much - has anyone done that. |

255/70 should be fine. It's only a little taller than stock tire in the US (255/65x16). 245/75 is also a popular option as is 265/75. |

I'm looking at putting BFG Muddies on my 16 x 8" factory steel rims. I'm hoping to fit 255/85R16 once the OME 2" lift springs are in. Has anybody had any hassles with this size tyre and this amount of lift? I would like to avoid rubbing on the guards, so any and all advice is appreciated. |

I have some 255/85 in my basement waiting for warmer weather myself. With the OME 779's (if that's what you call 2") you might have problems fitting the 255/85. But with the 751's you should be okay but I'll let you know for sure after I install them. |

it might upset the gearing though because the profile is 85% of the width - both bigger and therefore the sidewall is taller - ie the gearing is taller - that might have a real decease is grunt in some situations. S |
