I've got a ticking noise coming from under the valve cover on the passenger side. I was told it is the caps/cover? on the rocker arms that need to be adjusted. Does anyone have any tips for adjusting these. Do I need any special tools? Torque spec? Should engine be warm or cold? Anything else I should know. I've got a friend that lets me use his shop so he should have any tools I'll need. Just want to get as much info before hand. Thanks.

they are not adjustable.you will need to replaced the one that is bad.or you can replaced the whole shaft.beleive it or not the complete assembly is $70.00-$80.00 at the dealer.this is a very common problem.the bolts on the rail get torqued to 28 ft lbs.

I took it to my LR dealer to see what they had to say about the noise and they told me to adjust the caps/covers. I want to do it but need more info.

Jeremy,
I have no idea why or what your LR dealer is telling you to do.

The only way to adj the cap would be with a TIG welder. Ask the dealer to print that portion of the service manual, because he will never find it.
