how would i squezze more horses out of a 3.9 efi? keeping it siple and cost efective... i was thinking maybe to advance timing, platiun plugs, or higher out put coil... may be three inch exhaust/ not sure where to start or what to do. ant sugestions greatful. |

If you are asking this question and can't come up with the options I would stay the h*ll away from advancing your timing. That's a sure-fire way to kill an engine if you don't know what you're doing. Simple, change the cam. You will likely not net too many horses (ultimately you'll need to port the heads for that), but you'll gain some much needed torque lower in the RPM range where drivability may improve the most. Crower, Crane, and Piper make cams that will fit the Rover. The Crower and crane cams can be found for less than $180. Try www.aluminumv8.com go for a cam with more lift and a minimal increase in duration (again, you don't have the heads for even a modest cam...a mild cam will certainly do you good). After that, have the heads ported/get a larger exhaust manifold. |
