Hey All, I'm not sure if I'm seeing things but I think my 2000 DII is burning oil (or losing oil), maybe 1/2 qt in about 3000 miles? Is this normal? Don't see any drips in the garage although I see seepage at the front of the block, slightly below the level of the plugs. The car's under extended warranty so is this something to bring attention to now?

Thanks, Emilio

Thanks,

Emilio

Emilio, if it's under warranty, definitely have them check it out. That's not normal.

A Rover tech I talked to said it was normal - mine, (DII 35K miles) over the summer - very hot here in Atlanta, did it. I think its BS but......if you are still under warranty then I would bitch - i did but it did no good

The leak you are seeing is a small head gasket oil leak. I have a '99 D2 with 25K miles and have the same problem. The leak is common for Rovers and really any car make. I had mine checked out at the dealership, they said it was just a small seapage and did not need fixed. If your vehicle is out of warranty, you may want to weigh your options. Is it worth it to spend the money getting your head gaskets changed for a little oil leak. If it is 1/2 qt or so every 3,000 miles, you may want to get it checked out. That is a pretty significant leak, especially out of a car this new.
