Hi All, I was under the disco (DII) with the intention of greasing the universal joints and shafts, and I noticed that the grease nipple on the front universal joint had fallen off or sheared off. The threaded portion of the nipple is still in the groove, is this threaded portion easy to remove and replace with a new nipple, or do I need to replace the front universal joint. As always, any advice/help is greatly appreciated. Cheers, Arman |

Man, I hate it when one of my nipples falls off. It should be fairly easy to remove the threads, especially since they already have a hole down the center. |

A small "easyout" screw extracter should do the trick, simple operation. Man your lucky only the nipple fell out, imagine if the whole breast fell out! |

Arman: A new U-joint will only cost you $8.00 at Advance auto parts. A good one might cost as much as $25 from NAPA. If you're grease zerk has fallen off, you have gotten crud in there that doesn't belong. Replace the U-joint! You didn't say how many miles your truck has, but chances are, replacing the universal won't be wasted money. If you insist upon replacing the zerk, the threads are 1/4-28. Buy the short zerks at NAPA as the long ones will get busted off during axle articulation. Paul |

Paul, Thanks for the invaluable advice. The truck has 72,000 kilometers, the last time I greased the universal joint was at 68,000 km's, so I have no idea when it fell off, and how much debris may have gotten in there. I think that you are right, replacing it would be the wisest decision. Thanks for the input Paul. Regards, Arman. |
