i was looking into purchasing one of the ARB bullbars and i was wondering which one i should get. should i get an airbag or nonairbag? whats the difference between the low profile winch and the standard one? and when you go off roading even though you have a heavy duty bumper should you disconnect your airbag? should i look at another type even though ARB is one of the cheapest? thanks for the help |

Don't disconnect your air bag. Non-airbag bumpers don't have crush cans to help absorb the impact of a crash before allowing the air bags to deploy. So, a non-air bag bumper will actually cause the airbags to deploy sooner. Not to worry though, air bags are designed to deploy only when the crash force is sufficent to cause you great bodily harm (i.e. above 35 mph). ARB is a great bumper, but so is RoverTym, SafariGard, TJM, and others. Find one that you like and get it. Don't too bent on price. If all goes well, you will have it for a very long time; get something that you will be happy with. Thanks, Mike B. |

FWIW I have a '95 (airbag equiped) and made my own winch bumper. I did a good bit of research about the whole airbag deal, including posting to here, I think, but also news groups and then RRO mailing list. I finally decided to not worry about them. I based this on the feedback I received (including feedback from someone who did airbag sensor testing). Putting this together with the fact that I'm a careful driver, and if I have a front end accident it will be most likely a head on, I decided deployment time isn't gonna be that critical to me. The above comments in NO way suggest you should do the same. It is merely a comment on what *I* did for *my* personal vehicle that I do not plan to sell. Cheers |

I have the regular ARB...no airbag version, and I wish it was lower profile. It hits everything, and has gotten me hung up a few times. It really cut down my approach angle. |
