Hello all!

I am new to the discoweb bulletin board but have been cruising around this site for quite a while and have gotten bit by the Land Rover bug. I was looking into used Disco Series 1 preferably with the rt380 5speed transmission. Hopefully i would be able to get one with under a 100k and less than or equal to $9,000. Am i being too optomistic? In addition to that are there any mechanical issues/problems prevalent with a used Disco that i should look for right away? Reliability would be nice!

Thanks for your expertise.

I would sell mine for 9k.

96 5 speed 81k

Seriously, look around and you will find one. Most 5 speeds were abused. Look for a new trans or a carefull previous owner.

Oil leaks, idiot lights been discussed to death what to look for.

I paid over $13k for my '96 SE7 5spd with 62,500 miles on it just last June. Values took a huge dump right after that, and I knew I was overpaying.

But hang it all, I wanted a 5spd! It was still worth it.

I have one to top that I paid $20K for a '97 SE7 5 spd but it was in great condition with only 32K miles. Plenty mechancial parts with the 5spds, which you will notice when you drive one, which is why you should look for one that has been treated right.

I paid 5k for mine, but it had issues (which I have made it through most of them).

The 5 speed is nice because it feels MUCH faster than the auto. The slushboxes just did not do it for me which is why I held out for the 5 speed, even though I know it is a flaming POS transmission.

Drive both and you will see.
