I can't top ya Rob, but I'm freakin' COLD! It's about 15 here right now. Late night riding lessons have been a test, and they say tomorrow night will be the coldest of the season for us, yippee. I'm sitting here typing away under cover of a HUGE, STOOPID huge, sweater, and over that an afghan. I'm still wearing two pairs of pants, and I haven't thawed out yet. I think it's hot shower time.

Dammit, I knew Alan would win! Show off. :)

Tell me, I thought degrees C were fewer than degrees F, if that makes sense. I don't know the conversion, but as an example, I thought if it was 10 C it would translate to something like 25 F ? So, why would -24 C = -11 F? I just know it's a math thing and my brain won't get it..... in any case, Alan still wins!

Karen :)

Jaime,

Thank GOD you didn't lose your drink, LOL! Really, what a HUGE trembler that one was. Glad you were shaken and not fallen!

:) Not sure this is a competition I want to win. And it really sucks when there's a wind chill. I was looking at Rob's temps and was fantasizing about 8 F. 24 F and you'll see me in a tshirt! :)

As far as a math thing goes 1 C = 33.8 F if that makes any sense to you. Doesn't to me. As long as it doesn't reach 0 degrees kelvin, I'm ok with it. But if it ever does reach that, I think the phrase "A cold place in hell." comes to mind.

Thx Karen. it could have been much worse thats for sure.

To convert a Fahrenheit temperature into Celsius:

Tc = (5/9)*(Tf-32)

Whats interesting in this formula is as the temperature gets very cold, the difference between C and F gets smaller.

lol...

I was in Advanced Hydro, lecture was particularly boring, so, sitting there in my head, I worked out how to convert betwixt celsius and fahrenheit...

Freezing is 0º in C, 32º in F, boiling is 100º in C, 212º in F. That's a ratio of 100º to 180º, which reduces to 5/9, then adjust by 32....

High today here is supposed to be 15ºF, it's 13ºF right now....

Global Warming.. yeah right

Actually.....

Global warming doesn't lead to a constant warming, but an increase in fluctuation because of the additional energy input.... kinda neat, the "warmer" it gets, what will happen is that the weather will get quirkier instead....

Actually had a grad course just on Global Warming.... actually, it's kinda interesting, looking at how the systems interact....

Leslie is right....global warming isnt just a constant increase in temperature. Although the global average for year-round temperature is/will climb, it actually causes more (and more rapid) fluctuations in the weather....
In my science class, we just started learning about this last week.....its actually a very interesting topic and I have *enjoyed* learning about it....

Irony abounds here in Colorado. Tomorrow it will be a sunny 50 F. The normals are -5/20F. To add insult to injury Nags Head is getting more snow than us up here at 9100 feet. The only good part is the sun shines 330 days a year here and the rest of the time it's snowing.

Well, you all can kiss my ASS!

I am in Colorado and it 'should' be snowing here and cold but it has been in the 60's for days. This sucks, I can't belive that Florida is colder than Colorado!!

Average has been around -10 in the a.m. and about 0 degrees most days. I absolutely hate winter and everything that goes with it. It's extremely depressing.

Snowman,
It warmed up to 25 F from the last week of 0 F here in Albany! I was able to chunk up some of the ice on my driveway. Hopefully, some of the "warmness" will head your way!

It was -17 here in Watertown MN last week! Most night are -5 to -10 with highs around 5 - 13. It sucks, but at least there ain't much snow! I am sure that lots of babies are made up here during the winter: not much else to do if you don't ice fish.
