I have been getting a shake at high speed after hitting potholes, etc. and wandering in the groves on my RRC. Recently had steering box rebuilt. Has OME springs and shocks. Also panhard bushings have been done. There is a clonk when pushing the vehicle side to side. Jacked and I feel movement when pulling on the wheel top to bottom. Also about 1/8" travel in my panhard at axle. Any thoughts would help. Maybe my swivel pins need help? |

Did you do the panhard bushings or did a shop do them? My point is how do you know that they actually replaced them? Check the nuts to see if they are tight. How about your radius arm bushings? Are they worn out? On the swivel pins they can be adjusted by removing a shim (or two) but I wouldn't play with them just yet. How about the bearings? Have those been replaced recently, could the hub nut be lose? Just a few things I can think of. Hope it helps. Good luck and keep us posted. John |

John - I had the panhard bushings pressed in and I assembled. The radius arm bushings don't show any noticeable movement. I haven't checked the bearings or hub nuts yet. I plan on doing those this weekend. Maybe swivel pin shims, too. Can the shims be removed from the topwithout removing the entire axle housing? Thanks. Rob- The steering damper is an OME and replaced about 8 months ago. Last night I did find the bolts from the assembly (with the big steel wheel) loose. What is the big wheel for anyway? |

David, I heard of this happening due to excessive play in the steering box (and disappearing after the box was adjusted). peter |
