about to purchase some used tires, however do not know anything about tread measurements. Seller has informed me that he has 5 tires he removed from his disco in 2002, these were the original tires on the truck. He informes me that the spare which never has been used has a .350 thousands of tread and the other four have .270 left. what I need to know is if a new tire has .350 and since these tires were stored is there other things I should look for to see that there has been no damage? thanks James P.S. he wants $200 for the tires, what do you think |

Look for cracking(dry rot) inbetween the treads and near the bead. are they sport or offroad, if they are OEM they will be a sporty type of tire. I think michelins, that measurement sounds about right for sports, if they are an AT or MT it sounds a bit worn.. but at $200 thats a good deal, check your local tire dealers too for used tires. I picked up 4 goodyear MTRs with about 1500 miles on them for $200 mounted and balanced. |
