about to purchase some used tires, however do not know anything about tread measurements. Seller has informed me that he has 5 tires he removed from his disco in 2002, these were the original tires on the truck. He informes me that the spare which never has been used has a .350 thousands of tread and the other four have .270 left. what I need to know is if a new tire has .350 and since these tires were stored is there other things I should look for to see that there has been no damage?
thanks
James
P.S. he wants $200 for the tires, what do you think

Look for cracking(dry rot) inbetween the treads and near the bead. are they sport or offroad, if they are OEM they will be a sporty type of tire. I think michelins, that measurement sounds about right for sports, if they are an AT or MT it sounds a bit worn.. but at $200 thats a good deal, check your local tire dealers too for used tires. I picked up 4 goodyear MTRs with about 1500 miles on them for $200 mounted and balanced.
