I took my recently purchased '97 Dicovery to Flat Irons Land Rover in Broomfield, CO today to have the alignment checked (my steering wheel seems slightly cocked to the left even on a perfectly level road).

I got into work and they called me saying that the original owner had never performed the 30,000 mile service (it now has 105K on it) even though it was paid for, did I want it? Yes! So I'm getting a free tune-up, transmission filter/fluid change, and fluids changed in all differentials.

I didn't purchase the vehicle from them. They could have just let it go...

That is terrific service... I hope my local Land Rover dealer in Boise is this good!

Hello again Tom ;-)

The dealership will charge LRNA (or the warranty company?) for the work, so they actually make money on it. That's why they're so happy to do it for you.

Like I was saying to you in email, this happened to me as well with Pioneer Centres in San Diego. BTW I'd heard horrible things about their service until I actually got a Rover. They've been awesome to me, and a friend bought a new Porsche from them too and they seem OK to him (duh, no kidding!).

Anyways, the dealer in East Seattle wouldn't do the other scheduled maintenance that I supposedly had coming to me, according to Pioneer Centres. The dealer in Seattle said that LRNA wouldn't reimburse them for it, as the mileage on the truck didn't match the mileage listed for the free service I supposedly had on the books. Oh well.

No I bought a 1996 Disco last summer with 62,500 miles on it so it wasn't under warranty. The original owner (lessee) hadn't done a some of the free scheduled maintenance so Pioneer Centres did one of them for free. Usually I get work done at Land Rover Unlimited but I've been into Pioneer Centres once or twice and they've always gotten me out quickly and not charged me for things they didn't need to do (or even very much for things they DID do).

you wouldn't know the next lottery's winning numbers, would you?

ever since i ran out of warranty on my '96, NOT ONCE the work was completed on time, and i was charged less than $100 over estimate at Pioneer Centres. Guess that's just me :)

The first time I went in there I'd found out the hard way on Miramar road that my fuel light only works intermittently (what the )#)(% good is that). Fortunately my wife was in the neighbourhood so I had her bring a gallon of fuel. That didn't do the trick, so I thought maybe it WASN'T out of fuel. I called the dealership since they were only a couple miles away and asked if possibly it just needed more than a gallon of fuel. They said no, that should be enough so I called AAA and had it towed over there.

They slotted it in as we usually live in LA county and a couple hours later called and said that actually yes it WAS just the fuel, but that they'd also done a checkup for free since a previous owner hadn't had them done. Total charge: < $5 for a couple gallons of fuel.

So I guess they were wrong over the phone, but I'm still happy with how they looked after me.

Flat Irons Is a great Dealer.

I was on the way home with my brother from New York to Indianapolis in My disco I and the vehicle got stuck in park in Scranton Pennsylvania and we called flat Irons, the only dealer in the nation that talked us through our problem. I second the kudos to Land Rover Flat Irons.
