This is a REALLY dumb question.
Does anybody have a lojack system installed in their LR?
LRs stock or mod can be expensive investments, but with all the off-road use, would any bandito bother with stealing a LR?
I live in a rural area, so stealing my disco would may it stick out like a sore thumb.

It also depends on which state supports lojack. Kind of useless if your state is not.

I have it. Have never used it. My truck once belonged to the (owener/manager/president whatever big wig name you want to use) of Land Rover North Dade. A show on Discovery channel stated that Miami was/is the car theft capital of the world. Guess that's why I have it.

I got it b/c of florida and port city. We are close to theft capital also for 4x4 suv, plus port of tampa it may go for a trip to the islands/south america. Have friend that has loss two jeeps now in dade/palm beach. But, if local police don't have a number of support units on the street than its no good.

Here in Argentina we are pressured by the insurance companies to install it, without additional insurance cost.
The thing really works good, but, I self won´t install it, because:
All people that has it were intercepted by robbers, and they are satisfyed because they recovered the vehicle. I´m suspicious
One burgled car was found by the company and there was a lot of guys dismounting the accesories. The company car stopped and waited until the police arrived. The answer from the company: "we don´t have authority to stop this people". Result: the car was dismantled, and the insurance company don´t pay for a new car.

But... don´t forget, I write about a underdeveloped country...

Greetings

Guys, I have had plenty of first hand experience with LoJack. First off, my fathers NSX was tolen 3 times, ( everytime in NewJersey, imagine that) and it was ecovered evertime. The last time it was recovered, who ever stole it, left soe personal items. Alsong with his wallet ( so they knew wheer he lived) he stuffed 2 joints in the glovebox ( which dissapeared somehow) and some letters in teh center console. The letters were about 10 pages long, to his gay lover in prison. They were so funny, and the spelling was a good laugh too ( not like im one to talk)

Also, I use lojack at work, pretty much on a weekly basis and actually have recovered some nice cars with the thing. Lojack will sell you thier units no matter what state your in because most of the time, the cars leave the area they were stolen. If this is the case, it doesnt matter if your po-dunk city or town has thier police cruisers equiped, I think 40+ percent of major cities do indeed use it.

Its a decent product and might actually save your car...but sometimes, its worth the total loss, and to get a new disco.

That's what I don't really get about lojack. I mean, with most of my vehicles they're not exactly "one of a kind" vehicles, so if it's been stolen/joyrided/crashed/stripped, I don't exactly WANT it back if you know what I mean...

I guess it's nice to know you're potentially stuffing it to a car thief. I wouldn't want my Land Rover stolen I guess because it's a 5spd and they're hard to replace. But if somebody stole our BMW I'd be pretty happy since we're trying to sell it anyways (anybody want to buy a 2001 BMW Z3 coupe??).
