I was watching the Discovery Channel last night and they had a show about how easy it was to get your vehicle stolen. It got me to thinking.....I have a shit ton of cash-o-la in my '96 D1 and would go postal if some jack-off stole it. The cop and "professional thief" said the best way to protect you vehicle is a cut-off switch. Is is possible in a D1 with a Tdi? How big of a job? Potential problems? |

The challenge is to put the cutoff switch at the right place in the electrics. The Defenders have a battery cutoff switch that turns off everything - I use this sometimes. |

The DII 'superlock' feature: does it, or can it be made to actuate a cutoff type switch? I superlock the thing almost all the time, it seems like such an easy way to do it. |

a wiring diagram, some thought, and a toggle switch could be used to prevent a vehicle from starting.possible to install a toggle switch in the fused side of the fuel pump power supply,or in fuel pump relays power supply.even in plain sight with an alarm or panic label.all of this would need to be done properly to be safe. |

W do many custom "cut-off" switches at my shop. I like to use OEM factory switches to activate/deactivate the kill switch whenever possible. I've wired them to power window switches, cig. lighter, parking light switch, cruise control switches, magnetic switches, toggle switches, momentary switches, hazard switch, etc. We will then disable any circuit we desire, of course it must not let the vehicle start or run. Many siimple kill switches just kill the crank circuit of the starter but they aren't very effective. Most effective, and of course risky, is to disable ignition or fuel circuits. Anyone wants a diagram let me know. Shane Quality Sound |
