Does anyone know where I can find replacement DIN and battery cables for my 98 Disco's CD changer? I tried to splice them when rerouting my changer to my glove box, and then I found out you not supposed to cut them. I don't want to spend 90 bucks in cords from Pioneer, so if anyone knows where I can find them cheaper, that would be great.

Why shouldn't you splice them? Does the changer not work anymore?

Have you tried Radio Shack for the DIN connenctors and make your own?

Tom, since that DIN cable is a shielded wire, you're not supposed to try and splice it. And the changer still has power, but it won't work. Now tell me more about making my own, as that sounds cheap...

as long as you reconnect all the conductors it should work fine, only problem that would arise from loosing the shield in one spot is potential for noise being induced from other circuits. I've had to repair CD changer cables many times from theft recoveries and misc. repairs.

Hey Shane, could that explain why my "door ajar" sound is is crackly, and the transfer case noise is made when a passenger door is opened? Or why my dome light fuse blew? The way I interpret it, it sounds like maybe the wires don't have enough insulation between them. Better shielding, no "noise"?

Ah..I didn't realize they were shielded.
I'll shutup now. :-)
However, I *do* want to move mine at some point to an overhead console I'm making. So I'd like to know what solution you come up with.
