I'm new so please forgive me if these questions have been asked before. I'm just starting to build up my 95 discovery. I'm a member of a Bronco family and I've never worried about swaping rearends. The 9 inch has always been plenty strong. I guess I'd just like to know what I'm starting with. What is the ring diameter? What is the spline count of the axels? I've seen scout 44 swaps, is that, or other swapping necessary if I want to run 35's someday? Any info is great.

PS, my first 5 minutes on this site fixed my crazy tach. Thanks a bunch!

Pete

Pete, why would you want to swap?

peter,

if you want to run 35's and really plan on using them your gonna blow shit up bad!

the rears are 24 spline

the front are 24 spline inner with the identicle CV as a chrysler mini van

pretty small for 35's

the good news is that disco's are really capable trucks without 35" tires. I'v owned scouts, jeeps bronco's,a power wagon,a blazer on 40's,a few 4xx4 pick-ups and a few others and stock a disco beats any of them stock...yes even a old bronco. the amount of articulation they have combined with the 3.36 low range they are very impresive.

to quote Kyle one of our hosts here "some of the guys here started in a disco the rest of us ended up in one"

welcome and enjoy you wont be let down

Well, I consider myself pretty durable, I have lasted a couple of decades without any major rebuilds...... :)

I appreciate the information. The truth is i really don't want to swap anything if i don't have to. It's nice to know what i'm dealing with however. Thanks again.
