I have had my 2003 for 2 months and 3000 miles. I am having horrible rattles in the dash the dealer has tried to remove several times and vibrations at 55 mph (tires balanced 3 times). Does anyone else have similar problems ?

I don't have a new RR to compare to, but at $70K, you should be b*tching up a storm at the s.tealership (take that, Kyle!). The dash taken apart 3 times and vibrations at 55...go into the dealership and take the manager for a ride. Tell him you are severely disappointed and that you plan to take this issue up with LRNA if it is not addressed immediately and repaired. Vibrations could be alignment, but you shouldn't have these problems with a brand spanking new vehicle of this supposed caliber.

Seriously, I would understand this with a Kia.

take it back and demand a refund or sell it asap ... sorry to burst your bubble but it is a rover!

It is the Goodyear tires that are at fault, not the Rover itself. Go to http://www.rangerovers.net/rrmkiiiremedies.html

and look under the section labled "Vibrations."

I have an '03 also but I only have 600 miles on it. No rattles or vibration yet.
Shouldn't have problems like this as it is almost completely a BMW.

"Shouldn't have problems like this as it is almost completely a BMW"

Tires balanced 3 times? Find another dealer. Go to a tire shop that knows what they're doing.

Are the dash vibes at 55 mph, too?

How many miles before you started to notice the rattle? So far mine is rock solid....

John Pearson has informed me that the problem is not tire related, and that it has something to do with the steering box. He said that Land Rover is currently "investigating" the problem.

These quirks come up on all cars regardless of price. You can only hope the quality is better than average, but expecting no problems on today's complex cars is unreasonable. Check out the message boards for newer model bmw's on on bimmer.org.

The goodyear is a shitty tire on both the series II and the NRR. The problem is probably in the tires themselves. LRNA is thinking about requireing the dealers to use the Hunter 9700 balancer with road force variation measurements.

One of the nice things about the straight axle was all the unsprung weight would dampen the tire vyb if it was present. With the NRR chassis the way it is set up any amount of unbalance or out of round will be felt in the car. Your truck is not the first to have the vyb issue. See if they will sublet the tires to a tire store with a 9700 series balancer and ask for the printouts ( that tire balancer will print results for every tire).
