Last night I was driving and stopped at a red light. When the light changed I pressed the gas, but did not go. I thought that I may have slipped into N but I had not. I then put the truck into park and tried again. This time both the (M) and (S) lights were flashing. Once they stopped flashing the (M) light and the check engine soon light stayed on. The owner’s manual says just to get to the dealership soon.I was able to put the truck into reverse and get off the road. Does anyone have an idea of what had happen?

Are you able to get the truck moving by manually selecting 1st gear (or does it not operate in forward gears whatsoever)?

Check the trans oil level and condition. The fluid should be reddish. When was the last time you serviced your transmission?

If it's brown or smells burnt,, Can you say "how much to rebuild my ZF"..

If it is still under warranty it will probably get a remanufactured transmission. The dealers are not allowed to overhaul them during the warranty period and i don't know of one that does outside warranty. The reman units come from a ZF facility, not a LR reman (thank god).

ok will check the transmission. I dont even have 25000 miles yet. Would I still be able to go into reverse if it is the transmission? And I think I'm about to have my first blonde moment but what is a "ZF"?

Your trans is hosed. call roadside and get it to your dealer. You will get a new (reman) transmission.

A large fraction of the DII trans failures I have seen manifest as yours did. No drive but reverse works.
