I am trying to find the location of the fuel filter on my 99 Disco. I ordered a manual from Nathan but it has not arrived yet. Can anyone tell me where to look? Thanks. -Rich

In the back passenger side wheel well, take of the tire to get at it easier.

Rich, is it a '99 D1 or a '99 D2? Yes, it does matter.

For a D2....

You or the mechanic will have to enter the Fuel tank from the rear cabin area. Once you gain access to the tank, your Fuel pump, regulator, FSU assy is basically one big piece. A coarse filter is attached to the base of the Fuel pump / regulator and prevents large debris from entering that assembly. Around the circumferance of the pump is a fine paper filter element which is not a serviceable item and removes the requirement for an external in-line filter.

I am not sure if you ever have to get in here to change it out or not. LR Caper Fear warrantied my FSU back in '01.

Good luck getting it off if it is a D1. I had to cut my lines and make new ones as they were all corroded and impossible to get apart.
Stupid place for it if you ask me...then again nobody did.

Never had a problem getting mine off but yeah, it is a pretty dumb place for it.

clogged fuel filter = more strain on the fuel pump
causing to eventually fail. Filters are much much cheaper than a new pump.
