is it just me or is extreemly time consuming and dificult to burn a copy of a music cd using windows XP?

i've been sitting here , trying to copy some music and finding it taking 2 or 3 times longer than it used to, often times killing the disc.

copying data is also a pain.

it wont let me dump from one cd directly to the other. i cant figure a way around that. it is forcing me to save to hard drive first... driving me fucking mad...

help

Download and install the Bonus pack for media player ...
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/download/default.asp
Also make sure that you have the update for CD Burners that MS posted a few months ago. That should help (use the windows update for this).
One last thing u can do is go to the PC makers (or if bought the burner seperatly, the CD burners maker) web site to see if they have posted any updates to the burner.
Good luck. If you are looking for something that runs a bit better try nero burning rom. www.ahead.de it is a free download and a 90 day trial period. I use both with not too many problems.

Well I had Easy CD Creator and followed the upgrade to XP exactly, but it never did work right. I now have Nero and am happy as can be. Not a coster to date.

I have noticed that Roxio CD creater was giving me a close to 50% failure rate. (I have to test these things at work) This was with the latest version. On my test computer I have to use this but for personel stuff I run only Nero. (just a FYI I have noticed some problems with a buffer over run on the new version of Nero so try to get the version before 5578 if you can. (Nero does run a lot better compared to Roxio-Adaptec)

it's really odd.

i've come to the conclusion that the burner is malfunctioning. it wont recognize ANY disc..

i whiped off the driver last night and shut it down for some rest. after work i'll reload a new driver and see if it's working.

dan , as far as easy cd creator, it used to be all one program. the one i downloaded is 3 different icons. one for extracting ,another for converting file types and the last is for burning. i'm going to try the ones you guys suggest, hopefully i get this all worked out.

Well I burn a lot of CDs, both R & RW, and so far with XP Nero has yet to fail. Just today I burned an Alains Morissette CD that required burning songs from two different CDs and some Mp3s. Not a problem except my burner needs upgraded, 2X just dosen't cut it anymore.
