i just had my brakes done at a local brake shop and now I am noticing some problems. As far as the brake job, it was fine. Now I do not have any brake lights. I checked the bulbs and they look good and the fuses look good also. If I step on the brakes none of the lights light up. Could this have something to do with the brake job? Could they have undone something? Also I noticed when I lock the car with the key, the lights used to flash, showing that the alarm was engaged, now the don't? Any suggestions? 1996 D1 |

the brake switch located above the pedal is most likely why the lights dont work. the alarm not flashing the lights is because the battery's in the key fob are getting weak |

Okay, here is an update! Left brake light works, so I dont think it is the switch, but the right brake light and rear windshield do not. Both of the bulbs appear to be good. Any idea's? As for the alarm, I do not use the keyless entry fob, so I doubt that the battery going bad has anything to do with it. Unless there is a battery in the key, but I doubt that. The alarm works, but just still does not flash to engage. Another thing I noticed is the large bottom red lights on the rear lights never come on, even with the headlights on. Are those running lights or brake lights? Help please! |

the switch for the bottom light on my 94 is on the left panel behind the wheel . they are rear fog lights the lights are suposed to flash after the alarm is set if they just come one for a second and no flash then that says the key fob is low on batteries. if there is no light alarm has not set. |

Thanks for the info about the fog lights! I just read a previous post about them, I always thought that the rear fog lights were in the rear bumper. As for the brake lights, I guess I will try replacing the bulbs, evern though the elements in the bulbs look fine. The alarm works, I set it off to make sure. The blinking red light works inside and when I open the driver's side door the lights blink like they should, showing the alarm is disengaged. Still I do not get the light flashing upon setting it. I do not have the keyless entry fob for this car, but I did buy one from a junkyard, that I have yet to have set up. Could just having this fob in the car, not set up, have anything to do with this problem? I would guess not. |

I have solved one of the two problems! All of my brake lights now work, I guess it was just the bulbs. Even though they looked perfect and the constant element worked, there must have been a microscopic brake in the braking element. I still do not have the normal 3 light flash when the alarm is set. I cant figure this one out. But my alam is engaging and is set. |
