I have to say Shania was the best! I'm a big Sting fan too, but he just didn't cut it today. I also love No Doubt, but Gwen ruined Just a Girl....

it woulda sucked more if they had gotten the Stones, but yeah, it sucked. Shania was lip-syncing, Gwen STILL hasn't learned that she can either dance around OR sing but not both, and overall the show was just lacking. i thought Sting was the best part of the show.

You guys KILL me!

In the same breath, you bash someone for lip-synching, and then bash someone for truly singing and trying to put on a stage show.

Newsflash: If you want a dynamic stage show, it is GOING TO BE LIP SYNCHED. If you want it sung live, the singer cannot be dynamic.

Today's young audiences place far more emphasis on the stage performance and they EXPECT it to sound like the CD, so lip-syncing it is. It's just the nature of the business.

While none of the performers was riveting, they each did a credible job under the circumstances. It was the worst of all possible conditions to be performing and believe me, I've seen far worse than last night.

My favorite part of the Super Bowl was the Dixie Chicks singing the national Anthem. Very Very Awesome!

Oh yeah, the Bucs were good too.

I don't know Jaime, maybe he is. But I've seen the Stones lip-synch too...

It is impossible to free-hold a microphone the proper 3-7 inches from the mouth while running around the stage and interacting with fans (like Shania last night).

you need a hands free microphone, that's all.

i think it can be done, but it would just take an athletic person.

and i don't know about you, but i wasn't looking at shania's lips...

I think you guys are all nutz.....I really enjoyed the half-time show....it was far better than the football game for sure!

What I disliked is that twat Celine Dion singing "America the Beautiful" ! She isn't even American and barely speaks English! Now that was disgusting!

I agree with Paul that the Dixie Chicks gave about as beautiful a rendition of the anthemn as I've EVER heard!!

I made the same comment to my girlfriend about that. Of all the American singers that they could have gotten to do that...

It could have been worse. We could have had Michael Jackson.

Say what you want about wacko jacko, that guy knows how to put on a live stage show, and only hires the BEST guys to perform and run things. Not to mention Celine prays she can sell 1/3 the records Micheal has.

But man, what has that guy done to himself? Feaky doesn't cover it.

Micheal is as sharp as a tack business wise and I believe he is more under control than most of us are led to believe. I've always been lost on the purpose of his facial and skin changes? Anyone know? The original Jackson 5 were great, it was just fun music. No political out to save the world crap just fun dance music. I still play them for my kids (and myself). Now I'll be humming "ABC" the rest of the day.

I like Michael's music as well (I've sold his, Celine's and the Chick's music for years!), but I just can't stand to look at him... Weird. Maybe now that my devilish boss is gone, he will come back to the label.

I thought Shania looked like she should have been in one of those ultra cool Matrix trailers...

Dont get me wrong, Michael has made some good music and is very successful. I just hate looking at him specifically perform. There is only so much ball grabbing, moonwalking and pop lock dancing one can take.

Charles-
True, he has not had a new dance move in about a decade and yes he is quite scary to look at. The ball grabbing is just plain freaky. Now Janet...oh baby!! I could look at her all day!!

Hey John-
Do you get to meet many entertainers in your biz?

S,

I get to meet artists fairly often, usually it involves taking my buyers to a show and meeting the artist afterwards or if an artist is in town we will bring them by my clients office for lunch. Most of the time, they are baby bands you've never heard of, but occasionally we meet the big stars too. Got to have lunch with David Bowie last fall. Bowie was very cool!

Bowie, a true rock legend who has re-invented himself over and over and stayed current. Albany NY aside I think it sounds like a very cool job.

Again, he was way cool, wore on a nice Versace suit and canvas boat shoes! I couldn't stop checking out those blue and green eyes. Yeah, Albany's no prize. Except for the fact, I grew up in Atlanta and the wife, kids and I have taken the opportunity to Rover and camp all over New England and Canada.

Versace suit and canvas boat shoes, wow that's some serious confidence. Yeah upstate NY has great camping as I understand. I drove through the Finger Lakes Region years ago and swore I'd return. Like many things it has'nt happened yet, maybe next summer! We are getting summer again, right?

I totally agree with the comment on Celine Dion singing America the Beautiful what the hell was that all about and now she is in love with Chrysler vehicles. Great vocal talent but thats about it. Shania is getting a little skanky if you ask me and she at one point stopped moving her lips and the song went on what a waste ! Now at least No Doubt and Sting did a live show and they did a nice rendition of Message in a Bottle. What the hell is up with Bon Jovi they were real flat just the the Raiders !!

Dixie Chicks was a tick-track - sorry everybody, that was done in the studio.

Shania - M I L F

Gwen rocks - yeah, she could wear a wireless headset mic like Garth Brooks and run around like nuts but that's not her O.C. Ska-style is it?
