thats no good at all, maube even bad. i worked at a garage for a while and there was an excavation company next door, one day one of the guys forgot to put the parking brake on a big flat bed truck and it rolled of a retaining wall and crushed a my bosses suberban and two range rover 4.6's we were working on. they had to use the big CAT backho to lift the truck back up on to the retaining wall and then open there wallets! I'll see if i can get the pics from work.

Oh My,,,,,

Is that an auxillary fuel tank or a big ass bomb? Either way, I see an urinalysis in the future for that guy.

I don't think auxillary fuel tanks have fins on the back :)

Ahhh Mr. Vance. You are mistaken. Aux tanks do have fins in case of jettison from aircraft. :)

Do auxillary tanks have nose cones? ;)

LOL Jason,

Is that a nose cone, or is it a painted nose?

Check out the aft connection point. Next to it is a silver circular object that resembles a fuel connection. It's not a detailed pic, but that's where I am heading with it.

Look again...I'm quite certain it is a bomb...

FWIW: Aux fuel tanks do not get packaged in bomb crates.

Well, Since Bill the CPO calls it a Bomb Rack; I'll shut the hell up. :)

Fuel tanks don't have fins? I guess this is the AH-60 then.

It's the obvious "bomb" markings that would tip you off...

I don't know about drugs being bad per se, but I'd say they are not reccomended when working around bombs. ;-)

Then again, the person could have been really hung over, or maybe thinking about all the money he lost at poker the previous evening.

Maybe he just didn't want to get deployed!

It looks like an ext tank to me. The black paint on the front is a special radome-type, rubberized paint to keep it from chipping. If you look at the 2 silver circle areas toward the back, it looks like where the fuel line and vent tube hook in.

I've never seen a bomb that looks like that, but I am Air Force. It could be another branch.

A little late to the thread, but the word from my boss...an F-16 driver, most likely a fuel air explosive. Not quite the 15,000 pound daisy-cutter but quite likely an intermediate size one.

Paul, I'll agree, I enjoyed flying in Blackhawks... with the '46s, '47s and '53s, well, they were an experience, true, but, the Blackhawk was more enjoyable....

:)

Fuel air explosive???

Enlighten me. What is it?

Fuel/Air Explosive: before impact with ground level it releases a heavier than air fuel which stays in slipstream along with the bomb casing. Remainder is deployed at impact. All fuel is mixing with air at this time. Timer then runs out and ignites fuel/air mixture with explosive results; ergo Fuel/Air Explosive. Earliest use that I know is sub bunker busting during WWII against U-boat bunkers in the northern part of Germany.
